Statistics of Texting
Search Engine - Bing
NOTES:
· In America (in 2008) the average teenager would send and receive over 2,000 text messages in a month (around 80 texts per day), more then double from 2007.
· Physicians and Psychologists believe excessive texting will lead to anxiety, low grades, failing school, distraction, (repetitive) stress injury, and less sleep.

· Lots of debate about whether or not it is legally right for a teacher or principal, etc. to search a student`s phone when it is taken away. (If there is suspicion of harm to themselves or another, or previous history of ``bad`` behaviour courts deem it ``justified``.)

· In 2008, 81% of drivers admitted to using their phones while driving.
· A study was done in Virginia that texting or emailing while driving makes you 23% more likely to have an accident.
· In the United States 5,870 people died and 515,000 were injured in car crashes in 2008 (28% of those crashes were caused by 18-29 year olds who were texting and driving)
· In 2010 (United States) 47% of adults resulted in texting in driving, and 37% of teenagers did. 75% of adults talked on the phone while driving, and 52% of teenagers talked on the phone while driving. So, the stereotype of teenagers being the main problem with cell phones had been proven wrong.
